The Edge is for anyone in grades 6-8. Those belonging
to St. Bernadette's are welcome to use it as an option for religious
education... but even if you are not officially "signed-up," you're
welcome to come. To meetings, events, retreats, whatever you can make
it to, you're welcome. Make the Edge Part of your weekly routine!

What is an Edge Meeting like?

Every Edge Meeting has 4 basic parts, just like the Mass -- Gather, Proclaim, Break, Send.

Gather:
It's where we introduce the night... maybe with a funny skit or game...
there's also a short small group discussion, just to create a starting
point of discussion for the night's topic.

Proclaim: Usually we
call this the meat of the night... it's the talk, video, skit,
whatever, used to convey the main themes and point and teachings of the
night. The small groups discussions are based off of it.

Break:
We split into small groups and delve into the topic, for real! We
discuss how this topic matters to junior high students, and how you can
make it more real in your life. There may be a worksheet to foster
discussion, and sometimes your group has to do something creative,
either like a craft, or a skit or something else to bring back to the
large group.

Send: We re-gather from our small groups and
quickly go over what you came up with. Then we have a challenge for
you for the week ahead -- how do you take what we've learned tonight
and apply it, right now? Then we close in prayer and feast on snacks
that you all brought to share with us.
